Improving diagnosis: The Blood Markers in Dementia Study

A diagnosis of dementia can be as distressing as it is life-changing. Ron was a physics teacher when he met Maria, who was working in the business department at the same school. Six years ago Ron was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Ron recently took part in the Blood Markers in Dementia Study.

Dr Elizabeta Mukaetova-Ladinska is the lead investigator on an Alzheimer's Society-funded grant entitled 'Blood Markers in Dementia Study'. This project was set up to define novel blood markers that would be sensitive and specific in the diagnosis of dementia and, in particular, of Alzheimer's disease.
