Join Dementia Research for healthcare professionals
Our goal at Join Dementia Research is to make it possible for everyone who wants to take part in dementia research to get a chance to do so. For this, we rely heavily on healthcare professionals to get involved.
By raising awareness among patients, staff in your team, or other partners, you can draw attention to dementia research that is taking place both locally and across the country.
How can you get involved?
We have designed some resources to make it easy for you to highlight research as an option and encourage your patients, their carers, and family members to take part.
Refer someone who is interested - we will call them back
This option allows you to refer a patient or anyone else who may be interested in learning about Join Dementia Research. All you need to do is obtain their consent, and fill out this form for them. Within a few days, those referred will be called by one of Join Dementia Research’s three charity partners – Alzheimer’s Society, Alzheimer Scotland, or Alzheimer’s Research UK.This option is also available throughout the website in the form of a ‘Register by phone’ button, in the top right corner of the webpage.
Join Dementia Research helpdesk
You can direct a patient or anyone else to the Join Dementia Research Helpdesks, they are operated by The Alzheimer’s Society, Alzheimer's Research UK and Alzheimer Scotland. Talking about research takes time, and it is important to do so properly. The helpdesk offers in-depth support by talking to people about what the service may mean to them, answering questions, and finding out the next steps.
Utilising a GP text messaging service to raise awareness
Some GP surgeries have utilised a text messaging service to contact their patients directly to raise awareness about Join Dementia Research. Learn more about the role of GP practices in getting more people registered to Join Dementia Research using the text messaging service.
